Paintings and Sculptures
November 5, 2009 - November 28, 2009
Reception
Thursday, November 12, 6-9 pm

AES Gallery is pleased to present the solo exhibition of paintings and sculptures of Brooklyn-based artist Costain.

In his paintings, Costain utilizes found objects, such as refrigerator doors and ironing boards, as the primary surfaces for his compositions. His colors are bold and vibrant, reflecting the energy emanating from his subjects.

For his sculptures, Costain, using clay as a working material, is able to capture the personality of his subjects. Their movements are strong and decisive. The youth of the subjects reflects the vitality of the characters depicted and their sense of timelessness.

Costain's work is a reflection of a deep understanding of the human emotions and his continued interest in representing the vitality of the human form.

His work has been shown in 2/20 gallery, Chelsea, Skylight Gallery, Long Island City, Fading Ad Gallery, Brooklyn and The Greenwich Pottery House, New York. His work is also found in numerous private collections in the USA and Europe.
